With video editing tools, you can combine clips to create new videos and publish them on YouTube with one click. All your uploads are automatically added to the video editor. With the video editor you can do the following:
• Combine multiple videos and multiple uploads to create new videos.
• Cut your clips for a specific length.
• Add music to your videos from a library of approved tracks.
• Customize your clips with special tools and effects.
Note: The Video Editor tool at www.youtube.com/editor is currently unavailable for posting videos longer than one hour. You can, however, use the Improvements or Sound tools to edit the longer-lasting videos.
To access the video editor, click the link above or follow these steps:
- Sign in to your YouTube account.
- At the top right, click ⇑.
- On the right side of the page, click Edit under “Video Editor”.
- Choose from the video editor tools below.
- When you have finished creating the project, click Create Videos.
Video Editor Tools
All your uploads are automatically added to the video editor and can be used as a clip. You can add up to 50 clips and 500 images to each project to create a new video.
- Find the clip or image you want to add, top left in the video editor. Touch the camera icon to browse the images.
- Use one of the following ways to add the clip or image:
- For projects, you’ve already started, hover over the clip or image you want to add and touch the + icon.
- When you start a new project, drag the clip or image to the bottom of the time bar (located at the bottom of the editor) at the point where it says Drag videos here. Crop, Increase Duration and cut clip. After you add the clip to the time bar, you can adjust its length.
- Trim: Reduce the length of the clip by moving the mouse pointer over the edges of the video in the timeline. Drag the handles to the center of the video to shorten the length of the video.
- Increase Duration: Drag the handles from the center of the video outward to increase its length. If the new duration is longer than the original duration of the video, the video will be repeated.
- Cut: Clips can be cut into parts. Move the mouse pointer over the video and press the scissors icon to display a clipping index. Move the cutter to the point you want and press the scissors button to cut the clip.
- Customize and add effects: With the tools below, you can make changes and improve your clips. To display these options, move the mouse pointer over a clip.
- Rotate: Rotate the video by 90° degrees.
- Effects: Use the Enhancements in your video to fix the color, stabilize the image, and add filters and other effects.
- Text: Add text as an overlay to the clip.
- Slow motion: Modify the clip viewing speed.
- Add music: You can add a new audio track to your video. By default, the sound of the track you add will overwrite the original sound of the clip.
Note: Songs cannot overlap. They can only appear sequentially, each before or after each other.
